Thousand Hills Lifetime Grazed—a leader in regeneratively raised, grass fed beef announces the acquisition of the Organic Prairie and Mighty Organic Brands.

The combination of brands yields an unparalleled breadth of experience and product portfolio, creating a best-in-class regenerative grass fed and organic grass fed beef program offering.

“We couldn’t be more pleased to acquire the pioneering brands of Organic Prairie and Mighty Organic” said Matt Maier, Chief Regenerative Renegade of Thousand Hills Lifetime Grazed. “Organic Prairie products perfectly complement the Thousand Hills portfolio, particularly within organic and deli. More importantly, the Organic Prairie farmer-owned ethos aligns completely with the Thousand Hills’ commitment to supporting rural communities.”

Established in 1996, Organic Prairie was the first large scale, farmer-owned organic meat program. Thousand Hills plans to invest in and grow the Organic Prairie and Mighty Organic brand names, building on the legacy of these proven brands. There are considerable processing, distribution, and retail customer synergies between the two companies, so the Thousand Hills management team anticipates a smooth and seamless transition.

Regenerative agriculture represents common ground between the brands: the process of building healthy soil and natural ecosystems while protecting land from degenerative practices including over tillage, over-grazing, the application of toxic pesticides and petro-chemical fertilizers. Regenerative agriculture offers significant environmental benefits, working to regenerate soil, support biological diversity, improve watersheds, and sequester carbon by holistically grazing animals for their lifetime to produce a superior nutrient-dense product.

“Responsible land stewardship was a core value instilled in me by my parents. I am proud to carry forward that mindset on my own farm while amplifying the positive impact through this transaction.  said Maier. “Together, over one million acres have been regenerated due to the efforts of Thousand Hills and Organic Prairie.”

Thousand Hills’ regenerative agriculture practices are recognized by certifications from American Grassfed Association and Audubon’s Conservation Ranching program. The Audubon Bird-Friendly Land Certification requires participating ranches to meet rigorous standards in three areas: habitat management, environmental sustainability, and animal health & welfare.

“These certifications mean consumers can know with certainty the practices of all our farmers support diverse pastures full of grasses, flowers, forbs, legumes, buzzing insects, and nesting birds. It is habitat made entirely possible through holistic grazing,” Maier said.
