Nogales, AZ, – The Fresh Produce Association of the Americas, (FPAA) in conjunction with Dining Service of the Nogales Unified School District #1, (UNSD#1) are preparing the inauguration ceremony of a salad bar donated by FPAA to Challenger Elementary School.

The celebration will include a cooking demonstration by the “Roving Chefs,” where a professional teaches a group of children dressed in full chef attire how to prepare healthy and delicious meals, explains Ed Banuelos, director of Dining Service of the UNSD#1.

Arizona State Rep. Chris Ackerley (LD2) will be participating in the inauguration. “FPAA is pleased to celebrate this along with Rep. Ackerley who believes in and acts to support healthy initiatives like this,” says Lance Jungmeyer, president of FPAA.

This event will take place on Aug.18 at 11:30 a.m. in the cafeteria of Challenger Elementary School in Nogales.

“At FPAA, we want to give back and promote the well-being of our community. We will continue the search for ways to fund more salad bars to deliver to other schools in the area,” said Jungmeyer.

This is donation was possible by a generous contribution of the Nogales U.S. Customs House Brokers Association and the work of FPAA. It is all part of a program called “Let’s Move Salad Bars to School,” that resulted from First Lady Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move” plan that promotes better nutrition and fitness in kids.
