Establishments exporting to Taiwan must be in compliance with Canadian regulations, licensed under the Safe Food for Canadians Regulations (SFCR) for the required activity, and appear on the list of Canadian fish and seafood establishments approved for export. Contact your local CFIA office if your establishment is not on this list.

The main updates are:

  • Export eligibility for certain species of live shrimp, prawns and molluscs species
  • Added references to Taiwan’s product specifications – microbiological requirements and chemical contaminants
  • Certification requirements for bivalve molluscs under harmonised system (HS) code 0307
  • Certification requirements for fish and seafood products exported to Taiwan for further processing and subsequently exported to EU member states

Currently, there are no known certification requirements for the export of live crabs, live shrimp (of the genus Pandalus), or other fresh/frozen fishery products for human consumption. Exporters are strongly encouraged to confirm the documentation requirements for the export of these product types to Taiwan prior to commencing export activities.

If you have any questions, please contact your local CFIA office.
