Southstream Seafoods Signs Deal With Iceland Supplier

WARWICK, R.I. – Southstream Seafoods, Inc is pioneering as the primary U.S. importer of the high quality frozen at sea, Thorfish brand of Iceland, owned by Thorjborn, Ltd. The Thorjborn company has significant quota having landed 50.2 million pounds of seafood in 2009. This global oriented company has markets in Spain, Italy, Portugal, Britain, Japan and the United States. The Thorfish brand of Iceland has earned the stamp of approval from the Icelandic Responsible Fisheries Label with its wild caught, single frozen, 100% net weight products.

Southstream Seafoods will be importing Thorfish brand cod, haddock and pollock fillets to the U.S. food service industry. The benefits of the frozen at sea fillets to the food service industry are: consistent high quality, wild caught in well managed waters of Iceland, filleted and frozen within five hours of being caught, better yields, are not subject to availability due to adverse weather conditions and pricing is more consistent than fresh.
