First report formalizes decades of environmental stewardship and reveals the path forward
Blandon, PA – The Giorgi Companies (TGC), a third-generation, family-owned leader in food, agriculture, and packaging, announced the release of its first Sustainability Report, marking a significant milestone in its long-standing commitment to circularity, environmental stewardship, and regenerative agricultural practices.
For generations, Giorgi has embedded sustainability into the core of its businesses, not as an initiative, but as an operating principle. Today, the company is accelerating that legacy with a bold, system-based approach to circularity, designing out waste, maximizing resource efficiency, and actively regenerating natural ecosystems across its fully integrated operations.
“At Giorgi, sustainability is not a trend, it is a responsibility that drives how we operate every day,” said Peter Giorgi, Owner and CEO of Giorgi Global Holdings, Inc. (GGH). “We are building a system designed to give back more than it takes, from converting agricultural byproducts into nutrient-rich soil, and to reducing emissions, water use, and packaging waste. Our goal is to lead with solutions that are both environmentally responsible and operationally sound while providing our customers and consumers with nutritious mushrooms and mushroom-based foods and high-quality recyclable metal packaging.”
The company’s food division plays a central role in this strategy, overseeing the full mushroom production lifecycle, from compost development to cultivation, harvesting, processing and distribution. Compost development takes agricultural byproducts that might otherwise be disposed of and turns them into a food source for growing mushrooms.
Once grown and harvested, nutritious mushrooms and mushroom-based products are produced and sold throughout the United States, while production byproducts are returned to farmland to enrich soil and support future crops. Spent mushroom compost is used by farms and others as an agricultural soil amendment. This circular system benefits agriculture and the environment while also enabling Giorgi to maintain control over quality and efficiency.
“As a family-owned company, we think in generations, not quarters,” said Mark Currie, President of The Giorgi Companies. “This report is both a reflection of who we are and a declaration of where we are going. We are investing in regenerative systems, empowering our people, and holding ourselves accountable to measurable progress. Our goal is simple but ambitious: to leave our land, our communities, and our business stronger for the next generation.”
At Can Corporation of America (CCA), this circular strategy is evident in the manufacture of infinitely recyclable steel cans and ends. CCA helps customers showcases their dedication to environmental responsibility by providing packaging that propels their sustainability goals forward, including 100% recyclability, unmatched durability, high recycling rates, and the capacity to minimize food waste.
The release of the report positions The Giorgi Companies to share their journey in more detail, as the Company continues to invest in sustainable and regenerative practices across their business. The full report can be found here: https://thegiorgicompanies.com/sustainability/
