New "Speedy" Onion Campaign For 2011-2012

The Idaho-E. Oregon Onion Committee has selected Olympic Silver Medalist, Jeret “Speedy” Peterson as their official celebrity spokesman for their Spanish Sweet onion promotions for the 2011-2012 season.
Big plans are in the works for this new “All-American Winners” promotion campaign!
“Our onion industry and “Speedy” have a lot in common which makes them a great team.” said Sherise Jones, the Committee’s marketing director, “Both the members of the Committee and Jeret Peterson have integrity, courage, and passion for what they do, and a real GO BIG OR GO HOME attitude.”
As the youngest member in history to join the US Ski Team, Jeret has traveled the globe as a ski aerialist and has seven World Cup wins, three national titles, the Olympic Silver Medal from the 2010 Vancouver Winter Games and is well-known for his “Hurricane” ski jump maneuver.
But it’s not just skiing Jeret Peterson is familiar with. Jeret grew up in Boise, Idaho, and understands the value of his region’s onion industry. As an athlete, he also understands the need for proper health and nutrition which includes Spanish Sweet onions.
As part of the “Speedy” – Spanish Sweet Onion Campaign, the Idaho-E. Oregon Onion Committee is launching a second website in addition to their www.BIGONIONS.com. The second site, www.USAONIONS.com is specifically designed for the new campaign. On the USAONION site, a fun “Cooking with Speedy” video will introduce website viewers to weekly online drawings for special prizes. Also on the new site requests for the new Point-of-Sale material can be made, and other campaign related offers and information will be available.
The Idaho-E. Oregon Onion Committee will have Jeret “Speedy” Peterson at their exposition booths at PMA Foodservice in Monterey, California, July 31, 2011, and at PMA Fresh Summit in Atlanta, Georgia, October 15-17, 2011.
