Cebolla Fine Flowers Wins ‘Readers’ Pick’ As Top Florist From Dallas Observer

DALLAS – Cebolla Fine Flowers was chosen as the best florist by the public in the Dallas Observer's "Best of Dallas" Contest. This is the fourth time in five years that Cebolla was named the top florist in Dallas.

Cebolla (pronounced se-BOY-yah) was picked as the best florist in similar contests in 2005, 2007 and 2009 by the Observer itself. Veranda Magazine has featured Cebolla in the past. Even Oprah uses Cebolla as her florist of choice in Dallas.

"We are thrilled that our customers have voted us as the best florist in Dallas so many times," said Cebolla owners Luit and Jamie Huizenga. "We do work for Heads of State and Heads of Households. We strive to bring the best to the best, and it shows when the public picks us as the best florist in Dallas."

The husband-and-wife team specializes in lush European-style floral arrangements in unique vases, wax luminaries and handmade pottery far beyond what more florists offer. They started the original Dr. Delphinium Designs in 1989, then sold it after about a decade to run a ranch on Colorado's Cebolla River. They returned to Dallas in 2002 and opened a boutique called Cebolla Fine Flowers on Lovers Lane. Their current address at 4415 Lovers makes a popular location for Cebolla patrons to stop by for small, ready-to-go centerpieces and other floral gifts.

Their Cebolla Floral Emporium at 5610 Maple at Inwood opened last January. It features 15,000 square feet of orchid plants, fresh flowers, dried wreathes, rustic antiques, unusual plants and exquisite gifts. Flowers, pottery and gifts are imported from Belgium, Holland, Germany and Ecuador. Cebolla's design staff has been multi-national, too, with roots from Japan, France, Hungary, Vietnam, Mexico and Switzerland

The Emporium will host an open house later this year so that Cebolla fans and customers can see the top-of-the-line merchandise and the eco-friendly technologies that were used in refurbishing the Maple location. The date(s) for the open house will be announced by mail and on Cebolla's website: www.cebollafineflowers.com.
