Market Fresh Produce Appoints Mike Kemp As Chief Operations Officer

Market Fresh Produce, LLC. is pleased to announce the appointment of Mike Kemp as the company’s new Chief Operations Officer.

Mike Kemp brings a wealth of experience to Market Fresh that includes over 26 years in the produce industry. His most recent position was Vice President of Perishable Procurement for Save-A-Lot, LTD in St. Louis, MO. Previous to that position, Mike acted as Director of Produce and Floral for SUPERVALU INC. which is one of the nation’s most formidable grocery retailers and at that time had a network of over 2500 stores.

Mike has also served on numerous board positions which include but are not limited to: Advisory Committee to the USDA Secretary of Agriculture, United
Fresh Fruit and Vegetable board, Produce Marketing Association Retail Committees, and Chairman of the board for the Produce for Better Health Foundation.

In Mike’s new role with Market Fresh, he will report to company CEO Steve Phipps. Mike will oversee the company’s national campaign to become the
leading produce trade brand in the industry.

Market Fresh currently ships products to 42 states and has created a national footprint for premium quality products, best in class packaging, and outstanding service levels.

Market Fresh has developed an outstanding national supply network that provides both retail and food service clients with an array of premium products,
traceability, contract pricing, vendor managed inventory, and category management consulting.

Mike will play a leading role in introducing this outstanding national supply network Market Fresh has assembled to an array of new clients in both retail and food service.

In 2010, Market Fresh merged with Bushmans’ Inc. which is a 4th generation leading Potato grower and shipper. The merger brought tremendous strength to the company’s very competitive potato category and tied Market Fresh to the land.
