PHILADELPHIA, PA — Crocus has been selected as the 2026 Bulb of the Year by both the National Garden Bureau (NGB) and Flowerbulb.eu, giving the spring-blooming bulb dual recognition from two horticultural organizations.

The selections highlight crocus as an early-season flowering bulb known for its ability to bloom in late winter and early spring. Crocuses are generally hardy in USDA Zones 4-8 and grow in well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade. Their early blooms can appear while temperatures remain cold, and some crocus species produce natural antifreeze proteins that help protect their cells from freezing temperatures.
