CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – W.T. Harris Boulevard is known for its busy traffic northeast of Interstate 77 in Charlotte, but not everyone knows who W.T. Harris was.
William Thomas Harris moved to Charlotte in 1934 and started working at a grocery store before he decided to go into business for himself, Harris Teeter corporate affairs manager Paige Hamer said.
He started Harris Food Store on Central Avenue, which later became Harris Teeter.
