Reston, VA – The National Fisheries Institute announces Morgan Bell is its new Senior Director of Public Policy and International Relations. Bell spent 5 years as the Association’s Director of Public Policy and before that was part of Massachusetts Congressman Seth Moulton’s staff, serving as both Regional Director and as Fisheries Policy Advisor.
“Morgan brings not only a passion but expertise to every role we have asked her to fill,” said NFI President and CEO Lisa Wallenda Picard. “From local and federal issues to global policy initiatives she knows fisheries from water to table and is an important resource for our members.”
In her new role Bell will continue to serve as the Secretariat of the International Coalition of Fisheries Associations where she manages and coordinates the Rome-based organization’s global fisheries policy agenda for NFI. Bell has a Masters in Law and Diplomacy from Tufts University’s Fletcher School of International Affairs.
Recently Bell testified at the International Trade Commission as part of a hearing on the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement. She urged the United States Trade Representative to reaffirm the Administration’s commitment to the agreement and preserve its existing market access for all fish and seafood products.
“Understanding trade as a two-way street and the interplay between domestic and global policy is vital to this role,” said Picard. “Morgan has spent a decade developing an insight that is tailor made for this work. We are thrilled to have her in this new position.”
Bell grew up in Gloucester and did her undergraduate studies at Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts.
