ABA Recommends FDA Should Rethink Scope Of 'High-Risk' Foods

FDA’s proposed model for designating high-risk foods would result in a “one size fits all” approach capturing a broad array of foods, including baked goods. This is counter to the agency’s goal and mandate under the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) to identify high risk foods that would require additional recordkeeping in the event of a foodborne illness outbreak. ABA recommended FDA consider alternate terminology and narrow the food categories being reviewed.
