Sharlene Loewer from Marysville focuses on finding bargains while grocery shopping, rather than comparing prices across states. She uses coupons and only purchases items when they are on sale. Notably, the price of her favorite coffee, K-Cup pods, has increased from around $5.99 to as much as $9.99, with some brands reducing the count from 12 to 10, emphasizing the rising costs she faces at her local grocery store in Chesterfield Township.
Sharlene Loewer of Marysville does not do comparison shopping.
So, she’s not sure if grocery prices in Michigan are higher or lower than most states.
“I’m a bargain shopper,” Loewer said, during a trip to her local grocery store in Chesterfield Township. “I clip coupons and when something I like or something I normally buy is on sale I get it.”
Coffee is one example.
What used to cost $5.99 and $6.99 for a box of K-Cup pods (12 count) is now about $8 and even $9.99. Some brands have even raised the price and lowered the count to 10.
