Supply Chain Alliance Recognizes Members For Kindness, Strength, & Resilience

Legacy Foodservice Alliance a Richmond, VA based Supply Chain and Marketing Alliance recently held its annual Member Awards Presentation in conjunction with its Spring Marketplace in Lake Buena Vista, FL. Legacy recognized a diverse group Distributor and Supplier Members for their participation, engagement and contribution to Legacy Foodservice Alliance in 2017.

A special award was presented to Mendez & Company, Inc. from Guaynabo, Puerto Rico and Caribbean Foodservice, Inc. from St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. These two companies are headquartered in the direct path of the hurricanes that devastated the southern United States, Puerto Rico and the Caribbean in 2017.

Legacy honored and recognized these Members’ abilities to recover from the devastation and to quickly re-establish operations to serve their customers. “In addition to serving their customers, Mendez & Company and Caribbean Foodservice looked after their communities. In many cases they were the only ones with food and generator power to facilitate such an undertaking,” said Steve Push, Legacy Foodservice Alliance Chairman and CEO.

Mendez & Company and Caribbean Foodservice were recognized with a special Resilience Award. Howard Bowring from Caribbean Foodservice shared, “The extraordinary kindness and generosity the Legacy family has extended to us has been overwhelming. It was a little emotional receiving that award, although, it's not an award we want to try for again!”
