MEMPHIS, Tennessee — A campaign led by health advocates and the fishing industry aims to get Memphis residents to eat seafood twice a week.

The Commercial Appeal reports (http://bit.ly/1oyXekP ) that Memphis is one of two pilot cities for The Seafood Nutrition Partnership, a group that organized public officials, celebrity chefs and health fairs featuring Omega-3 fatty acid screenings in October to promote the health benefits of consuming fish. Indianapolis is the other pilot city.

One factor that brought the seafood-eating campaign to Memphis is that the American Heart Association ranks Tennessee as the eighth-highest among states for death rates from cardiovascular disease. Arkansas is fifth and Mississippi is No. 1.
