WCMA Applauds Plan to Boost Farmers, Food Aid

WCMA Live, Online Championship Cheese Auction Raises Funds for Industry Educational Programs

Dairy industry suppliers, marketers and processors joined the first-ever online Championship Cheese Auction Friday, April 24 and raised more than $ 93,000 to support the Championship Cheese Contests, scholarship programs and educational workshops of the Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association (WCMA).

Groups representing dairy farmers and cooperatives in the Midwest today urged the federal government to provide direct assistance to farmers and to expedite the purchase of additional dairy foods amid unprecedented disruptions in supply and demand due to the COVID-19 national emergency.

Gruyere from Switzerland Named 2020 World Champion

A Gruyere from Bern, Switzerland has been named the 2020 World Champion Cheese. The cheese, called Gourmino Le Gruyère AOP, is made by Michael Spycher of Mountain Dairy Fritzenhaus for Gourmino AG. Spycher also won the 2008 World Championship Cheese Contest with his Gruyere.
