Culinary Institute of America Elects Marc Sarrazin Board Chair

Marc Sarrazin is president and CEO of DeBragga—New York’s Butcher, a role previously held by his father. Upon taking the torch from his father in 1992, Sarrazin continued to build the company’s relationships and reputation. DeBragga now boasts an impressive clientele of superstar chefs including Daniel Boulud, Laurent Tourondel, Eric Ripert, and Charlie Palmer.

Culinary Institute of America Installs Michiel Bakker as President

On October 17, Michiel Bakker was installed as the Culinary Institute of America’s (CIA) sixth president. He succeeds Dr. Tim Ryan, who held the position for 23 years. Bakker brings nearly three decades of transformative impact in the food and hospitality industries, notably holding leadership roles at Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide and Google.

Real California Milk Awards Chefs Michael Vakneen And Eddie Stalewski Win Top Prizes For Innovative Use Of Real California Cheeses At 6th Real California Pizza Contest

Following a live bake-off competition where eight professional chefs from across the United States were judged on their innovative pizzas highlighting California cow’s milk cheeses, the California Milk Advisory Board (CMAB) crowned three new pizza champions in the 2024 Real California Pizza Contest, the premier national search for the best pizza recipes that feature Real California Cheeses.

Finalists Selected for 6th Annual Real California Pizza Contest; Eight Chefs to Showcase Innovative Pizzas with Real California Cheeses at Napa Bake-Off Event

The finalists will come together August 7th at the Culinary Institute of America at Copia in Napa, Calif. to compete in a live bake-off event where the winner in each category will receive $7,500. A new addition to the 2024 event is a special Three-Cheese Pizza competition where all eight finalists will be paired to compete for an additional $7,500 in prizes. The remaining finalists will each take home $750 for participating.
