Copper River Seafoods has expanded its processing facilities in Bristol Bay with the acquisition of Naknek facilities formerly known as Extreme Salmon, also with their associated assets, the company announced April 21.

Access to the sockeye salmon resources of Bristol Bay is the next logical step in Copper River Seafoods' ongoing statewide expansion, said Scott Blake, president and chief executive officer of the firm.

The Naknek facilities will make possible creation of about 70 new seasonal jobs in the region, adding to Copper River Seafoods workforce of 600 employees at peak season statewide.
