California's salmon fishing season has faced cancellation due to declining fish populations from drought, heat waves, agriculture, and damming. State fishery managers advocate for allowing salmon to swim upstream and spawn, leading to the closure of both commercial and recreational fishing. However, there are ongoing efforts aimed at benefiting both the salmon and the fishing community.
