Texas Grocer to Eliminate 126 Jobs as Part of ‘Reduction in Force’

One of Texas’ largest grocers is slashing more than 100 jobs, possibly in the beginning of the new year.
United Supermarkets is eliminating an anticipated 126 positions from its main office in Lubbock, according to a WARN notice submitted Nov. 17 to the Texas Workforce Commission. The company wrote in the notice that it plans to make these changes no sooner than Jan. 19, 2026, as part of “a reduction in force.”
“We will make every effort to place affected team members into alternative positions throughout our organization,” read the notice. “The restructuring process will be implemented gradually over the coming months, and is expected to conclude on or about July 2026, with remaining team members continuing their employment at this location.” Positions anticipated to go away include multiple director roles, and several roles in both marketing and on the support desk.
