Publix Eyes First East Nashville Location

The Florida-based grocery giant is in talks to anchor H.G. Hill Realty Co.'s forthcoming Hill Center Greenwood, according to Metro documents filed by the developer, which you can view here. The planning document shows an image of a trash compactor, labeled "Philadelphia Tramrail PT-350 Compactor by Publix." A source familiar with the development separately confirmed Publix's involvement.
Brenda Reid, a spokeswoman at Publix, said the company has not signed a lease for an East Nashville location. Developer Jimmy Granbery, through a spokeswoman, declined comment. It was not immediately clear when a deal might be finalized.
Publix is set to replace Sprouts Farmers Market in the development. Sprouts was previously included in the project, but dropped those plans prior to Granbery reviving the deal earlier this month.
