Tom Lange Company Announces Retirement Of Tony Machi, Pittsburgh Division

SPRINGFIELD, IL –  Tom Lange Company announces the retirement of Tony Machi, Account Manager, after 28 years of service.

Tony Machi will retire from the Company after 28 years of service, effective August 31, 2017.  Tony began his career at an early age at a produce company founded by his grandfather, Machi Produce, while also working alongside his father.  After several years spent on the Pittsburgh wholesale market, he joined Tom Lange Company’s Pittsburgh office in 1989, where he flourished and developed into the Company’s top account manager for fifteen years.

Tony shared, “One thing I always remember in life, it is just like a house, there are 13 steps from the first floor to the second. Take your time and take each step one at a time.  You will achieve your goals and make it to the top.  There are no shortcuts.”

“Tony has always shown a remarkable internal drive to serve others, and build long lasting relationships with his customers and vendors. His complete dedication to the produce business was paramount to his success.

We appreciate all of his efforts, and we will greatly miss his passion for produce,” said Sam Coombs, Vice-President Sales Pittsburgh Division.

Tony’s legacy continues with his son Brandon who joined Tom Lange Company in 2000.  Tony shared that it was a dream come true to work with his son for the last seventeen years as it was his father’s dream to have worked alongside Tony.

“It has been a pleasure to work with Tony and the Tom Lange Company greatly appreciates the 28 years of service and dedication.  Tony has not only been a valuable part of the Tom Lange Family, he has also been a very generous contributor to the Tom Lange Charitable Foundation,” said Phil “Rock” Gumpert, Chairman/CEO of Tom Lange Company.
