As part of its strategic commitment to increasing consumption of fruits and vegetables, Produce for Better Health Foundation (PBH) partnered with the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA) during a panel discussion at this past weekend’s Everything Food Blogger Conference to share how seemingly disparate brands, beef and produce, have come together and partnered with influencers to change the perceptions of healthy, sustainable diets.
PBH president and CEO, Wendy Reinhardt Kapsak, MS, RDN, as well as Shalene McNeill, PhD, RDN, executive director of human nutrition research at NCBA, and contractor to the Beef Checkoff and one of PBH’s new Fruit and Vegetable Ambassadors in Action, Neva Cochran, MS, RDN, LD, shared how brands can find common ground and the role influencers can play in supporting those brand partnerships to advance a new food narrative.
“We know 70% of Americans are eating beef at least once a week, and we believe fruits and vegetables should absolutely be a part of those meal occasions,” says Wendy Reinhardt Kapsak, president and CEO of PBH. “Pairing produce with foods people are already eating and enjoying is one way PBH is trying to make fruits and vegetables part of Americans’ everyday lives. Sharing how we work with influencers to bridge brands for simple and delicious, plant-forward consumer solutions is also part of PBH’s role as an industry leader and influencer in its own right.”
PBH debuted its Powerful Produce Pairings Program during its annual meeting just a few weeks ago. As promised, the group will continue to roll out partnerships in retail and in food service for the remainder of the year.
“The Everything Food panel discussion demonstrates the power of PBH’s Powerful Produce Pairings Program and new Have A Plant™ movement, bringing both to heavy-hitters in the food blogging space, who can inspire consumers to eat more fruits and vegetables every single day,” says Reinhardt Kapsak.

About the Produce for Better Health Foundation
Produce for Better Health Foundation (PBH), a nonprofit 501(c)(3), is the only national organization dedicated to helping consumers live happier, healthy lives by eating more fruits and vegetables, including fresh, frozen, canned, dried and 100% juice, every single day.
Since 1991, PBH has invested decades into developing trended insights on attitudes toward all forms of fruit and vegetable consumption, in addition to campaigns and partnerships with government, food industry stakeholders, health professionals and other thought leaders to collaborate, facilitate and advocate for increased intake. Campaigns included first, the 5-A-Day program, and then, the Fruits & Veggies—More Matters public health initiative. While five fruits and vegetables each day is great advice, and more will always matter, PBH’s new behavior-based call-to-action is Have A Plant™.
