The new owners of Chiquita Brands International Inc. will close the company's headquarters in the NASCAR Plaza tower, which houses up to 320 employees.

Interim Chiquita CEO Brian Kocher said in a letter this morning to employees that the changes are a part of a transition to a privately held company after Chiquita's acquisition last month by Cutrale Group and Safra Group.

"We wish to inform you of changes at the company that will result from our transition towards a more simplified and streamlined business model appropriate for the competitive markets we serve, and from a publicly listed company to a private enterprise," he stated in the letter.
