CAIA Adds Allison Myers To Merchandising Team

APTOS, Calif. (August 18, 2010) – Produce industry veteran Allison Myers has joined the Chilean Avocado Importers Association (CAIA) merchandising team in perfect timing with the start of Chile’s avocado season, set to begin at the end of this month.

“With more than 25 years of produce industry experience and relationships, Allison made the perfect addition to our successful team of passionate and well-networked merchandisers across the country,” said Maggie Bezart, CAIA marketing director. “Her go-getter personality and love of our industry are valuable assets to CAIA and her success in the produce merchandising field.”

Based in Kansas, Myers will work to sustain and expand CAIA’s relationships with retailers in the Great Lakes and Central U.S. territory. Previously covered by Barbara Glynn, Myers plans to work closely with Glynn, prior to her gradual retirement this year, and other CAIA merchandisers to learn from their successes. Coming from a customer-service and sales role at produce industry publication, The Packer, Myers will utilize her unique skills and relationships to increase CAIA’s presence among Midwestern retailers.

Retailer partnerships and promotions are a key component of CAIA’s marketing efforts to support its upcoming 2010-2011 season. Other supporting programs and tactics include trade and consumer event participation, consumer contests via the Chilean Avocado Lovers Club and football-related consumer programs.

Established in 2002, CAIA is composed of Chilean avocado importers, exporters and producers. The association’s main objective is to conduct market development activities and promotions to increase the consumption of Chilean Hass avocados in the United States during the Chilean season, August through March. Chilean Hass avocados are available throughout the fall and winter, when California avocados are out of season.
