Wilmington, DE ShopRite Issues Meat Recall

On Friday, the ShopRite of Christina Crossing near downtown Wilmington recalled ground meat produced and sold on Dec. 29.

The supermarket chain said it is possible ground meat processed at the store on that date may contain small, ground-up pieces of black tray-lining pad.

"Although the pieces of the lining pad may not cause an immediate health risk if ingested, we wanted to alert the public so appropriate steps can be taken," ShopRite spokeswoman Karen Meleta said in a statement.

The recall affects only the ShopRite at 501 S. Walnut St. No injuries have been reported as a result of the tainted meat, according to ShopRite.
