CHESTERLAND OH — Every worker in the Meat and Poultry industry recognizes the need to meet FDA compliance in the processing and storage stages of their products to guarantee safety and vendor reputation. Now CAS DataLoggers has partnered with trusted manufacturer Accsense to supply an affordable wireless solution for meat processors by offering the Accsense A1-13 Wireless Temperature Data Logger, a convenient and cost-effective device for automated cold-chain temperature monitoring. Paired with the Accsense B1-06 Wireless Data Logger Gateway, these pods form a complete wireless monitoring system which sends all recorded temperature data online for easy storage and analysis, empowering personnel to easily access all the data from one source and further ensuring the meat products under monitoring. The system requires an RJ45 Ethernet connection with open internet access—and that’s all! The Accsense system is easy to setup and entirely eliminates the need for expensive training. The economic advantage is considerable: compared to having to take manual recordings of the temperature, automated monitoring is much less expensive, more dependable, and offers more data storage and documentation for future reference. This new wireless solution combines superior data logging reliability and accuracy with customizable alarm settings to maintain meat and poultry cold chains all the way from ‘farm to fork’.
Operating on battery or AC power, each Accsense sensor pod features an internal ambient temperature sensor that detects a wide temperature range of -40°C to +70°C (-40°F to 158°F) with an accuracy of ±1.4°C at 25°C. The A1-13 pod is specifically designed to connect to three RTD sensor inputs, allowing an increase in the amount of sensors per pod and reducing the cost per measurement. Each pod also features two digital inputs and can be connected to a broad range of digital sensors. Diagnostic LEDs give users clear indication of power, wireless status, and more. Each pod’s memory can store up to 32,000 samples with a user-settable sampling frequency anywhere from every 30 seconds to every 24 hrs.
Forming the connection between the user’s data and the internet, the wireless gateway features built-in 10/100BaseT Ethernet and supports up to 16 temperature sensor pods. The Accsense wireless system ranges out to 250 feet unobstructed and 90’ indoors, and its 1900-point sample buffer automatically backs up the data in case of emergencies.
FREE software and feature upgrades are included with the wireless gateway, with no software installation or firewall configuration needed. Users work with a customizable interface with dashboards of the most recent measurements from all sensor pods. Manual vertical scaling allows for consistency across multiple graphs and samples, and users get instant access to charts depicting measurement history with ranges as narrow as 5 minutes or as wide as 90 days. Measurement data can also be downloaded for offline analysis, and users can allow password-protected, limited access to certain users.
All of the measurements acquired using the Accsense solution are immediately available on a completely secure online Accsense Account, backed up at the manufacturer’s Rackspace™ servers. Data can also be sent as a local ASCII stream, either of which the user can incorporate into custom software including LabView. Each gateway requires an online account subscription. With measurements updated in real-time, users can plot measurement history, analyze tabular data, and set alarms to watch their data. The secure servers can also send out voice, text or email alerts (with premium subscription) to inform the supplier and authorized staff when a temperature reading falls out of range. The same alarm can even be sent to multiple locations! Additionally, data sent online can be downloaded as a CSV file and loaded into most database applications. The gateway’s internal data storage can even compensate in the event of Internet outages.
Optional accessories for the A1-13 temperature pod include an external battery pack allowing extended monitoring up to 2-3 years, a temperature RTD probe with an external sensor measuring -100°C to +100°C (-148°F to 212°F), and an ambient temperature RTD probe measuring from 0 to 100°C (32°F to 212°F).
