Springfield Meat Packing Facility Sold

NORTH SPRINGFIELD, Vt. – Layoffs are underway at the Vermont Packinghouse, a meat processing facility in North Springfield, and one of just a handful of USDA-certified meat processors in the state.
Pigs are a big part of the Baltimore Road Farm’s bottom line. The pork they sell directly to consumers is processed at The Vermont Packinghouse, located just a mile or so away.
“We are not set up with a facility to do it ourselves. We do have the knowledge, but it is quite extensive to get set up to legally sell your own meat and processing it yourself,” said Baltimore Road’s Cynthia Cormier.
