Syngenta Flowers is proud to introduce 3 new additions to its Salvia superba ‘Merleau’ series. Each is a breakthrough in its own right, and in combination with the existing Merleau varieties they represent a major step forward for this first-year flowering perennial series, another success for Syngenta Flowers’ breeder Har Stemkens.
Salvia ‘Merleau Blue Compact’
Compacter and less tall than the rest of the Merleau series, but still retaining the series characteristics of earliness, first year flowering and exceptional performance, this variety is bred for efficiency and will appeal to Perennial growers who want to grow more plants per square meter in a shorter period. The shorter spikes have a much deeper colour than the traditional Merleau Blue.
Salvia ‘Merleau White’
This variety is a true breeding breakthrough – the first white-flowered Salvia propagated from seed. Until now, perennial growers wanting to offer a white Salvia in their assortment needed to rely on vegetative varieties, at the expense of economy and programmability. The clear, white-flowered spikes of ‘Merleau White’ adorn a plant which perfectly matches the other series colours.
