Columbus, Ohio – Several florists today were named winners of the OFA Short Course Florist Design Contest. The contest, sponsored by BloomNet, featured three categories: Home as a Haven, Home for the Holiday, and Home DIY (Do It Yourself). The contest was held in conjunction with the florist design sessions and workshops during the OFA Short Course, July 14-17.
The Designer of the Year was Dee Conrad of Petals & Leaves in Powell, Ohio. The first runner-up was Mary Cox of Floral Garden Florist in Ashland, Ohio; second runner-up was Lisa Gazette of Petals & Leaves in Powell, Ohio.

Category 1: Home as a Haven
- 1st Place – Kara Thompson, Dietz Falls Florist, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio
- 2nd Place – Sarah Paullin, Floral Garden Florist, Ashland, Ohio
- 3rd Place – Juan Tracy, J Marlo Designs, Idaho Falls, Idaho
Category 2: Home for the Holiday
- 1st Place – Dee Conrad, Petals & Leaves, Powell, Ohio

OFA Short Course attendees had the opportunity to vote for their favorite design. The People’s Choice Award was presented to Sarah Paullin of Floral Garden Florist in Ashland, Ohio.
