Flowering Plant Nurseries Latest Victims Of Cold Weather

BRANDON – Row upon row of flowering plants sit as if in silent anticipation of
spring and the hordes of customers poised to scoop them up.
Wholesale and retail nursery owners say they hope that as the weather thaws, so,
too, will their sales.
Just like retail sales, construction and real estate, Hillsborough County’s
landscape nurseries have been pummeled by the economic wrecking ball.
Some have failed altogether, said Hugh Gramling, director of Tampa Bay
Wholesale Growers.
More could still fold.
