CANBY, Ore. – Terra Nova Nurseries, a world leader in plant breeding, introduced the fourth and newest addition to the Crocosmia NOVA® Series, Crocosmia NOVA® ‘Ember’. The distinctive crocosmia is praised for its unusual orange and coral flower spikes, which add visual interest to mixed beds, sunny banks and borders.

Crocosmia NOVA® ‘Ember’ presents an upright growth habit and boasts dense heads of orange flowers, edged in electric coral. This variety’s non-invasive clumps are powerful pollinator and hummingbird attractors; ‘Ember’ can also be used as a vibrant cut flower and requires low-water usage.

‘Ember’ thrives in both full sun and partial shade and performs best in average, well-drained soil. The easy-to-grow perennial blooms from June through August, reaching a height of 28”, width of 16” and flower height of 36”. USDA Hardiness Zones for Terra Nova’s latest Crocosmia NOVA variety are 7-9.

Terra Nova’s breeding team recommends that ‘Ember’ should dry slightly between waterings in the greenhouse. Finishing growers can expect the finish time from a liner to a 4-inch pot to be six to eight weeks; finish time from a liner to a 1-gallon pot is 10-12 weeks.

Terra Nova Nurseries has created a “Plant Profile” page and “Grower Recipe” specific to this new variety, so growers interested in orders can learn about growing habits, plant characteristics, fertilization recommendations, water requirements, and other insights provided by the breeding team.
