CANBY, Ore. – Terra Nova Nurseries (www.terranovanurseries.com), a world leader in plant breeding, has announced the launch of its first snapdragon series, which has been named Antirrhinum REVELATION® Series.
Terra Nova’s Antirrhinum REVELATION Series is bred from the hardiest-known species of snapdragon and offers three sun-loving, shrub-like perennial varieties: Antirrhinum REVELATION® ‘Blush’, Antirrhinum REVELATION® ‘Cream’ and Antirrhinum REVELATION® ‘Fuchsia’. The new collection is lauded for its rust-free foliage and abundance of blooms that attract pollinators and hummingbirds; the new antirrhinums are also deer-resistant and drought-tolerant.
Antirrhinum REVELATION ‘Blush’ covers itself in blush-pink flowers that are held on elegant spikes throughout the spring and summer. Its silvery-green foliage is held in an upright, shrubby habit that complements the plant’s ethereal blooms.
Terra Nova’s REVELATION ‘Cream’ showcases pale butter-cream blooms that blanket the plant throughout the growing season. A full, vigorous habit and clean, rust-free foliage make this variety a standout performer, offering a sophisticated new look for the snapdragon category.
REVELATION ‘Fuchsia’ delivers vibrant rosy-fuchsia blooms that cover the plant in cheerful color. The variety’s silvery-green foliage remains attractive even when not in bloom, and its upright, shrub-like habit provides a hardier, more disease-resistant alternative to traditional snapdragons.
Finishing growers can expect the finish time from a liner for a 4-inch pot to be four to six weeks; the finish time from a liner to a 1-gallon pot is six to eight weeks. Terra Nova’s breeding team recommends providing about 1 inch of water per week, keeping the soil consistently moist for the first few weeks after planting in the garden. The team’s breeders recommended allowing the top 1 inch of soil to dry out between watering once established. USDA Hardiness Zones for ‘Blush’, ‘Cream’ and ‘Fuchsia’ are 6-10.
Terra Nova Nurseries has created “Plant Profile” pages and “Grower Recipes” specific to these new varieties, so growers interested in orders can learn about growing habits, plant characteristics, fertilization recommendations, water requirements, and other insights provided by the breeding team.
