On Thursday 24 January, during the trade fair IPM 2019 in Essen (D), Corokia virgata Maori Green & Maori Silver, submitted by Addenda (NL) from Honselersdijk, was awarded the Show Your Colours Award IPM 2019. A visitors’ jury and a professional jury granted the award because the entire image of the plant, in terms of appearance and communication, is perfect. The prize was presented to Corina van der Heiden from Growers Association Addenda by chairman of the jury Oliver Mathys, in the BIZZ Holland stand.
Corina van der Heiden was very happy with the award. “Winning the Show Your Colours Award IPM 2019 is a great spin-off for giving our product an even stronger position in the market”, says Van der Heiden from Addenda. The jury was unanimous in its verdict on Addenda’s entry, which was found to be perfect in every way. The award was given to this nomination for its beautiful and clear label with good information for the consumer, its trendy plant and the entire communication surrounding the product. The advice of the jury to the other and to future entries was to tailor the label to match the beautiful products even better.
Second and third place
The second place went to Wonder Tree fruit trees, submitted by Fruithof from Kapelle (NL). Hydrangea macrophylla x H. scandens ‘French Bolero’, submitted by van Vegepolys from Angers Cedex (F) finished in third place. The other plants nominated were Camellia japonica Winter Perfume Pink & Pearl from Van Son & Koot (NL), Cordyline-Mix from About Plants Zundert (NL), Cyclamen persicum Indiaka (various colours) from Morel Diffusion SAS (F), Dianthus Pink Kisses from Selecta One (D), Laurus nobilis Feel Green Kitchen Bay tree from GOVA Decorum (NL), Lavandula intermedia Phenomenal from Joh. Stolwijk & Söhne (NL), Lucky Berry 4-month strawberry from Diederk Heinje and BCM Baumschule Christoph Marke (D) and Rubus-Mix from Jungheim Boomkwekerijen (NL).
Judging
The plants and concepts nominated were exhibited in the BIZZ Holland stand at the trade fair. The visitors were able to vote for their favourite plant/concept until Thursday morning using special coins. A professional jury, consisting of Linda Hoogendoorn – Veelenturf (Stichting Beurshal), Jacqueline van der Burg (Varb), Sytse Berends (Blunt Communicatieadvies), Oliver Mathys (“I green you”) and Andreas Henk (trade journalist Gabot – Das Gartenbau Portal), judged the entries on Thursday afternoon.
