DODGE CITY Local officials’ efforts to attract federal funding for Dodge City’s proposed cheese-processing plant have paid off.
The Kansas Department of Commerce announced Monday it has approved $12.61 million in Recovery Zone Facility Bonds for the plant. The announcement authorizes Dodge City Cheese to issue bonds for the $90 million plant, which would be located in the Dodge City Industrial Park on the east side of town.
Dodge City Cheese had requested $15 million in bonding authority, but the lesser amount won’t prevent the company from moving forward with the project, said Joann Knight, executive director of the Dodge City/Ford County Development Corp.
