Lucky’s Market, a single-location natural-food grocer in Boulder, Colo., is planning an expansion that is expected to bring one of the stores to Clintonville by mid-October. Lucky’s ownership is working with a founder of Wild Oats Market and Sunflower Farmers Market on a plan to open six markets in eight Midwestern states during the next 30 months, according to the grocer’s website.

“Clintonville just feels right, is the best way to put it,” said Bo Sharon, president and co-founder of Lucky’s. “It’s a tight community, a like-minded community and supportive of each other.”

An attorney is in the process of getting variances for the proposed market at 2784 N. High St., site of a former Volunteers of America thrift store.

Natural-foods stores are not new in this market.“Columbus has been inundated with gourmet markets” over the last two decades, said Jill Moorhead, marketing director for the Hills Market, a specialty grocery established in 1993.
