Final Call For The 2012 NSF International Food Safety Leadership Awards

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – NSF International has announced the final call for nominations for the2012 Food Safety Leadership Awards (FSLA) Program, which recognizes individuals who demonstrate outstanding food safety leadership in the food industry. Nominations must be received by Friday, February 24.
WHAT: Winners will be recognized in one of nine awards categories: education, training, equipment design, packaging innovation, product development, research advances, system improvement, technology breakthroughs and trendsetter. One individual will be recognized with a lifetime achievement award for his/her significant contributions to advancing food safety.
WHO: Foodservice operators, manufacturers, researchers and members of academia are encouraged to submit nominations.
WHEN & WHERE: The 2012 Food Safety Leadership Award recipients will be announced at the Food Safety Summit on Wednesday, April 18, 2012, the morning prior to the keynote speech at the Washington, D.C. Convention Center. The Food Safety Summit covers important issues in food safety, quality assurance and food security.
HOW: NSF International convenes an independent panel of food safety experts from academia, industry and the regulatory community to select the awardees. Nominations are evaluated based on creativity, innovation, design, contribution to the advancement of food safety and overall quality of contributions made.

- Shelley Feist, Executive Director, Partnership for Food Safety Education (PFSE)
- Donna Garren, Ph.D., Vice President, Regulatory and Technical Affairs, American Frozen Food Institute
- Jack Guzewich,FDA/CFSAN (retired)
- Ernest Julian, Ph.D., Chief of the Office of Food Protection, Rhode Island Department of Health
- Ronald S. Klein, Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (retired)
- Jim Mann, Founder & Executive Director, The Handwashing For Life Institute
- Donald Schaffner, Ph.D., Extension Specialist in Food Science, Rutgers University
- Katherine Swanson,President-Elect, IAFP, and Vice President, Food Safety, IAFP and Ecolab
- David Theno, Ph.D., CEO, Gray Dog Partners Inc., Food Consulting
- Ewen C.D. Todd, Ph.D., President, Ewen Todd Consulting and Former Director of Food Safety Policy Center, Michigan State University
