The Louisiana Seafood Promotion and Marketing Board (LSPMB) met today in Baton Rouge for their bimonthly meeting. At this meeting the board moved to accept the recommendations of the proposal subcommittee to contract with the consulting firm, GCR and Associates, Inc.
GCR will lead the board and seafood industry stakeholders through a series of strategic planning exercises where they will determine the needs of the industry. Following these meetings, based on the board’s recommendations, GCR will enlist the services of two additional groups with Louisiana ties. Those agencies are Louisiana based marketing firm, Graham Group and The Food Group, a food promotion agency based in New York. GCR will work with the Graham Group and the Food Group to meet the objectives and goals set forth in the strategic plan.
“We know that the image of Louisiana seafood was significantly damaged by the Gulf Oil Spill disaster and we are thankful that BP provided us with the necessary funding to begin to rebuild our brand, said Harlon Pearce, chairman of LSPMB. “We look forward to working with these groups to regain lost market share and bring Louisiana seafood to new markets.”
GCR, Graham Group and the Food Group were apart of the more than 35 proposals LSPMB received in April when the request for marketing proposals was issued.
GCR and Associates is a Louisiana professional consultancy with an international client base. The firm was established in 1979 and is located in the University of New Orleans Research and Technology Park.
Created by the state government in 1984, the Louisiana Seafood Promotion & Marketing Board supports Louisiana's commercial fisheries industry through a variety of efforts. More information about the board is available at www.LouisianaSeafood.com.
