SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Three local companies took home honors Monday in the Great New York State Fair's 2016 Dairy Products Competition.
The competition judges a variety of dairy products, including milk, cheeses, sour cream and yogurts. Results were announced as part of the 40th annual Dairy Day at the fair: The Grand Champion award went to Western New York-based Yancey's Fancy cheese company for its Chastinet Sharp and Snappy Asiago-Style Cheese, and the gold medal for milk went to Battenkill Valley Creamery in Salem, which scored a perfect 100 from the judges.
