GALESBURG — Galesburg Flower Company, 128 N. Broad St., took the Floral Design Award for the second year in a row at a recent multi-state floral design show in Milan.
Blaine Utsinger won first place in floral design for his entry in the “Surprise Box” competition. Utsinger received both a first place ribbon and a cash award. Utsinger’s award-winning entry comes on the heels of the third place won in 2009 by Mike Rogers in the “Anything Goes” floral design competition. Rogers was also featured in 2008 as one of three guest teachers of contemporary floral design at the annual event in Milan, which attracts 300-500 florists.
Meanwhile, work continues on the inside and outside of the company’s new location. Galesburg Flower Company moved from North Prairie Street after buying the former Anderson Florists from Don Anderson.
