Chobani & Discovery Education Partner To Educate Students On Entrepreneurship & Nutrition

SILVER SPRING, Md. – Chobani, maker of America's #1 Greek Yogurt brand, and Discovery Education, the leading provider of digital content and professional development for K-12 classrooms, today announced that on Monday, May 18 at 1PM ET, they will host a live virtual field trip and roundtable featuring leading entrepreneurs from around the country as part of the Recipe for Innovation education partnership. High school students from around the country are expected to tune in to the virtual field trip to hear Hamdi Ulukaya, CEO and Founder of Chobani, share his story of entrepreneurship and participate in a panel with Lauren Bush Lauren, founder and CEO of FEED Projects, Amanda Zuckerman, co-founder of Dormify, and Josh Hix, co-founder and co-CEO of Plated. Recipe for Innovation launched in May 2014 to educate and inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs and equip K-12 educators and parents with learning tools to explore concepts such as healthy eating, innovation in the food production process and prepare students for today's business landscape. Just last year, Recipe for Innovation brought an estimated 200,000 elementary and middle school students on virtual field trips to Chobani's state-of the art factories in New Berlin, New York and Twin Falls, Idaho.

"This past year we've been on an incredible journey that's brought us inside classrooms across the country to inspire students of every age to dream big. Inspiring tomorrow's generation means sparking their curiosity today," said Ulukaya. "Through these gatherings, we've been able to engage with the next generation of innovators about the importance of entrepreneurial spirit and the power of thinking big."

Chobani and Discovery Education's K-12 Recipe for Innovation initiative utilizes a multi-pronged approach offering digital and interactive content to explore the science and manufacturing behind where food comes from, tracing the journey from farm to table, and showcasing how food is made and why it matters. This initiative also highlights the importance of innovation and the power of entrepreneurship through comprehensive curriculum, hands-on activities, and virtual field trips, all co-developed by Discovery Education experts.

"We are thrilled to continue our partnership with Chobani to bring exciting educational opportunities to students across the country," said Bill Goodwyn, President and CEO of Discovery Education. "Recipe for Innovation challenges students to think critically about the relevance and importance of science while also reinforcing key skills of entrepreneurship, primarily ideas of innovation and creativity."

In the May 18 virtual field trip, high school students will learn about the rewards and challenges of entrepreneurship, how to achieve success, and the characteristics that set entrepreneurs apart. Additionally, students will have the opportunity to meet young entrepreneurs who have turned their creative ideas into reality.

"I'm looking forward to using this virtual field trip as an exciting way to introduce my students to the important world of entrepreneurship," said Sara Badiner, teacher at Otsego High School in Michigan's Otsego Public Schools. "This new program will inspire creativity and innovation in my classroom while fostering my students' everyday critical thinking skills and knowledge to understand the impact of their food choices."
