Tasteful Selections Potatoes Make You Tube Debut

Minneapolis, Minn.; July 5, 2010 – On June 26, Tasteful Selections specialty potatoes made their retail debut in the Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area in all Lund’s and Byerly’s stores when they kicked off their “Create Ooh Ahh Moments” campaign.
As surprising as their unique flavors and small sizes, these specialty potatoes delivered unexpected performances supported by the sketch comedy troupe, Recovery Party. Customers shopping the Byerly’s store in Eagan, Minn. on Saturday experienced their own Ooh Ahh Moments of bewilderment, surprise and delight when they encountered posed actors eating potatoes, a family having a potato dinner in the seafood section, and a talking potato head display.
The retailer featured five of the nine varieties of potatoes in two of the three sizes highlighting 1-Bite and 2-Bite sizes in Ruby Sensation, White Delight, Purple Passion, Sunrise Medley and the Signature Honey Gold flavors.
The market launch of these specialty potatoes included sample drops to local food writers along with a variety of in-store events including POS signage, demos, cross-merchandising and guerilla marketing. The guerilla marketing included staged actors throughout the store who posed with potatoes in unexpected ways.
The kick-off for the newly launched Tasteful Selections line yielded strong first week sales, along with interesting consumer reactions which are highlighted in a video at http://www.youtube.com/user/TastefulSelections.
The launch of these new potatoes comes six months after the announcement of RPE’s new partnership with CSS Farms and Plover River Farms Alliance, Inc. to grow and market unique varieties of small potatoes.
Tasteful Selections potatoes are currently available at select retailers throughout the United States in bulk and packaged SKUs in a variety of flavors and sizes.
