\WADDINXVEEN, Netherlands — Eosta, one of Europe’s leading importer-marketers of organic fresh produce, is preparing to receive the first volumes of Organic Raingrown® avocados from Mexico, as part of an expanded program of production and imports with partner grower Avova.

Following several years of successful collaboration, Eosta has worked with Avova to significantly expand production of Raingrown avocados for this season, with the first volumes arriving in Europe this week.

A family-run organic avocado specialist based in Mexico’s avocado heartland, Michoacán, Avova is working closely with Eosta to expand its orchard base. This will help Eosta increase the availability of Organic Raingrown Avocados within Europe’s growing organic avocado market, with rain-grown production offering a more water-conscious approach.

Alongside this growth, Avova remains committed to transparency and socially responsible production, including good working conditions, fair pay and support for local communities.

At the same time, Organic Raingrown Oranges, produced by Peruvian citrus cooperative Kivinaki and famed for their high-juice content, are now available across Europe via Eosta. The organic ‘Jucy Gold’ oranges, which are now in their second season with Eosta, feature a typical 45% juice content and good Brix levels, in addition to a guarantee of zero pesticide residues.

This season, Eosta is targeting particular growth in the fresh juice segment, with the company aiming to take advantage of both the oranges’ consistently high juice content and consumer concern over the presence of pesticide and anti-fungal residues on citrus peel.

The Raingrown concept

Cultivated entirely using natural rainfall – a process which significantly reduces pressure on local water resources while delivering on flavour and quality – the Organic Raingrown concept demonstrates how organic agriculture can contribute to more resilient and climate-conscious production systems.

Eosta calculates that its innovative Organic Raingrown program for avocados and oranges saves more than 1.6 billion liters of water each year in regions which are already under considerable water stress.
