Washington, DC –The American Bakers Association (ABA) and the Retail Bakers of America (RBA) proudly joined forces with the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation to celebrate the 250th birthday of the United States Marine Corps. In honor of this significant milestone, members from both associations donated beautifully crafted cakes for birthday celebrations held in nearly every state across the country.
To recognize the November 10th birthday of the U.S. Marine Corps, representatives from the Marines, state governments, and the baking industry gathered to commemorate 250 years of honor, courage, and commitment. Thanks to the generosity and skill of the baking community, these celebrations featured a custom designed cake representing the spirit of the Corps and the pride of the baking industry.
“The baking industry was honored to come together in tribute to the brave men and women of the United States Marine Corps,” said Eric Dell, ABA President and CEO. “By raising their hands to bake and donate cakes for these events across the country, our members demonstrated their collective gratitude for the courage and sacrifice of our nation’s service members, and the baking community’s unwavering commitment to supporting our heroes.”
“For 250 years, the Marine Corps has embodied the highest ideals of service and sacrifice,” said MajGen James Lukeman, USMC (Ret.), President and CEO, Marine Corps Heritage Foundation. “As we mark this milestone, the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation is honored to partner with the American Bakers Association in bringing this celebration to communities nationwide. Their generosity reflects the same spirit of pride and purpose that has guided Marines throughout our history.”
“It’s incredible to see retail and commercial bakers come together to share their talent and generosity,” said Marissa Sertich Velie, Executive Director of RBA. “Our members continue to show what makes this industry so special – craft, creativity, and community. This collaboration is a beautiful example of how bakers across the country support one another and use their skills to make a difference.”
This collaboration between the ABA, RBA, and the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation stands as a powerful testament to the baking industry’s enduring commitment to honoring America’s history, uplifting its communities, and celebrating the spirit of service that defines the nation. As the U.S. Marine Corps marks its 250th year, the nation’s bakers stand proud to have played a role in recognizing the service and sacrifice of America’s Marines.
