Weather anomalies caused the south of the Odessa region to experience its lowest sunflower yield in recent years, according to farm director Oleksiy Loginov. In the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi district, 90 percent of the 700 hectares planned for harvesting have been completed using three combines. A severe drought since May adversely affected the plants during their crucial flowering phase, leading to a significant decrease in yield potential, as reported by the agronomic service Tekom Agro Group.
Weather anomalies this year led to the lowest sunflower yield in the south of the Odessa region in recent years.
According to the director of the farm Oleksiy Loginov, in the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi district, about 90 percent of the planned areas have already been harvested. Three own combines are involved in the work.
In total, in 2025, [the region] sowed about 700 hectares with sunflower. Working with this oil crop this season was much more difficult because there was no rainfall at all in the area where our farm is located starting from May. Unfortunately, the summer drought significantly affected the development of our sunflower crops, as it mostly affected the plants during the flowering phase when the crop needed moisture for the formation of baskets and seeds. Due to these critical factors, the yield potential has significantly decreased.
