Viva Fresh Produce Expo Announces 2015 Golf Tournament

Mission, Texas – The inaugural Viva Fresh Produce Expo is March 26-28, 2015 in Austin, Texas and tees off with the Viva Fresh Open “Swing for the Future” golf tournament, presented by Paramount Citrus. The golf tournament will be held at the Grey Rock Country Club on Thursday, March 26 starting at 11:30 am CST.

Craig Slate, Senior Director of Retail Sales at IFCO remarked, “We’re excited to debut the Viva Fresh Open in conjunction with the annual Viva Fresh Produce Expo. The tournament will provide a great opportunity for expo participants to join together for some camaraderie, fun competition and a great cause – education.”

The new event is meant to provide additional networking opportunities but also to raise funds for the Viva Fresh Education Scholarship Fund. The fund will support students and teachers whose curriculums are focused on nutrition and agriculture programming.

The scholarship fund is something that we’re all passionate about and would like to see grow each year,” remarked Bret Erickson, President and CEO of the Texas International Produce Association.  “Providing the gift of education is not only beneficial for our youth but a great networking extension for our Viva Fresh Expo.”

Registration includes entrance to the tournament, 19th hole celebration and an awards reception where the first and second place teams for gross and net scores will be recognized.

After the golf tournament award ceremony concludes at 6:30pm, players and other expo attendees are invited to join the 19th Hole Celebration at the Grey Rock Biergarten for live music and games.

About the Viva Fresh Produce Expo
The expo, which is meant to highlight the “Gateway to the Americas,” will focus on produce grown in the Southwest region of the United States and while also showcasing the role of Mexican produce. The expo was created to take advantage of the trend to offer more intimate and affordable regional tradeshows that allow vendors and customers to create meaningful networking opportunities that highlight products and build relationships.  The new show replaces TIPA’s Texas Produce Convention.

About the Texas International Produce Association
The Texas International Produce Association (TIPA) was created in 1942 to represent the interest of shippers of Texas-grown fruits and vegetables. In 1996, the scope of TIPA was expanded to address the problems and opportunities surrounding the importation and marketing of foreign grown produce. TIPA's member companies include: growers, domestic shippers, import shippers, specialty shippers, distributors, and material and service providers.
