Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, weddings and birthdays – flowers are still an essential centrepiece of special occasions. Yet when it comes to starting a flower business, demand is wilting.
The number of people looking to start up a florist has fallen by 62pc in the last year, according to a new study.
Online business insurance broker Simply Business, which analysed insurance quotes for 1.3 million independent traders over the past four years, said that “traditional” micro businesses are falling out of favour to new start-ups such as house-sitting and pet-minding.
