TAMPA, Fla. – In an effort to empower today’s youth to make smart choices about nutrition, the Florida Department of Citrus has introduced a completely redesigned Captain Citrus. Armed with super powers and a knack for making smart choices, the world’s newest comic book hero is traveling from Florida to restaurants across the country to teach children about nutrition and the benefits of drinking Florida orange juice.
Originally created in 2011 as a life-sized orange, today’s Captain Citrus has been transformed into a young man mysteriously powered by the sun. A sculpted hero clad in a muscle-skimming citrus-hued suit, Captain Captain Citrus was developed to help convey the values of the Florida citrus industry and the importance of making smart choices about nutrition. With more families seeking healthier dining options, Captain Citrus can help inspire healthier choices and satisfied parents.
“We know that kids have considerable influence on restaurant selections, so it is important that we are meeting the demands of both children and their parents,” says Tammy Wiard, Director of Retail Marketing at the Florida Department of Citrus. “Kids menus should be fun, engaging and provide healthy options. We want kids to get excited about eating healthy, so we have created a selection of highly-visual educational and entertaining Captain Citrus materials to help them make smart choices while driving current and future restaurant business.”
The Florida Department of Citrus offers existing and customized campaign programs to help increase traffic and boost beverage sales with eye-catching merchandise. With Captain Citrus menu placemats, digital comic books, table-tents and more, you can instantly capture kids attention and keep them wanting to return to your restaurant. Both parents and kids love the taste of Florida orange juice. One glass of 100% Florida orange juice contains vitamin C, potassium, folate and no added sugar.
