Emerald Coast Growers Adds Space To Increase Ornamental Grass Production

Pensacola, Fla. – Emerald Coast Growers has expanded with an additional 25,344 sq.ft. added at their Milton, Florida, facility.

“This expansion will allow us to transfer some of our grass crops, making room for new varieties at other locations,” says Josiah Raymer, head grower. “We’re always striving to improve the availability and quality of our products, and new growing facilities help us achieve both of those goals.”

The construction is in response to increased demand for their products, says Raymer. The new house, a gutter-connected Atlas, has the capacity to hold 13,200 flats and is designed with a natural venting style to combat Florida’s long, high-heat summers. It features double-inflated poly tops with shade cloth and roll-up side walls, plus HPS lighting, Schaefer HAF fans, Netafim irrigation, Phytotronics mist control systems and Hired Hand heaters, all purchased through BWI.

While the new construction will primarily be used for ornamental grass production, the flexible design and equipment setup give Emerald Coast Growers the option to produce different material as needed.
