Annual Ag Woman Of The Year Welcomes Nominations

Salinas, CA – Ag Against Hunger will recognize a woman who has contributed significantly to the success of the tri-county agricultural industry at the Seventeenth Annual Ag Woman of the Year luncheon at Paraiso Vineyards in Soledad on Friday, June 11, 2010. Nominations for this award are now being accepted; forms are available at http://www.agagainsthunger.org/news.htm and are due by April 16, 2010. This year’s keynote speaker will be Nicole Parra, California State Assembly Member from 2002 through 2008, and Co-Chair of the California State Ag Commission.
All Monterey, San Benito and Santa Cruz County service, non-profit or trade organizations are welcome to submit a nomination for Ag Woman of the Year. This award seeks to honor unique leadership qualities held by women working within our local agricultural industry. These qualities include a selfless spirit of engagement in promoting and celebrating agriculture with one’s heart, mind and soul; and a perpetuation of the pioneering traditions and tenants of independence, integrity, and innovation from our agricultural history, for and with humanity.
Ag Against Hunger is a non-profit agency providing fresh donated produce to food banks in the tri-county area of Monterey, Santa Cruz, and San Benito counties, then statewide and out-of-state when the fresh produce needs of local food banks are satisfied. Since 1990, area growers and shippers have donated over 160 million pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables to help feed the hungry.
